In this talk I will give a personal account of the first steps I took working on supersymmetric dark matter. After reviewing some of the astrophysical evidence for dark matter and the different experimental techniques used to search for dark matter, I will move on to analyze what may be learned from putting together information coming from collider searches and from direct detection experiments.
