I will start by reviewing the black hole deconstruction proposal for describing the microstates of D4-D0 black holes in type IIA string theory on a Calabi-Yau manifold. The relevant brane configurations are fluxed D6-anti-D6 pairs surrounded by ellipsoidal D2-branes, and these seem to account for the black hole entropy at least in a probe approximation. The M-theory lift of these configurations are bubbled geometries with M2-branes wrapping the bubble. I will report on some progress and puzzles in constructing the fullly backreacted solutions in 5-dimensional supergravity, which involve exciting the universal hypermultiplet.
